A virtue to practise

Peaceful

Being peaceful means staying calm inside, and solving problems without fighting or hurting anyone.

What being peaceful means

Peace starts inside you. When you are calm, it is easier to listen, think clearly and find a fair way through a disagreement. Peaceful people don't avoid every problem. They deal with problems using words, patience and fairness, and they help others calm down too.

How to practise being peaceful

  1. When you are upset, find a quiet spot and breathe slowly until you feel calmer.
  2. In an argument, say how you feel with "I feel..." instead of blaming.
  3. Help two friends who are arguing to listen to each other.
  4. Spend a few quiet minutes each day without screens or noise.
