A virtue to practise

Humility

Humility is knowing your strengths without needing to show off, and staying open to learning from anyone.

What humility means

Being humble doesn't mean pretending you aren't good at things. It means you don't need everyone to know about it. Humble people can win without boasting, lose without sulking, and say "I don't know" or "You were right". Humility keeps you learning your whole life, because you stay open to other people's ideas.

How to practise humility

  1. When you do well, thank the people who helped you.
  2. Say "I don't know, can you show me?" when you don't know something.
  3. Listen to someone's idea all the way through before sharing your own.
  4. Notice something someone else is good at, and tell them.
