A virtue to practise
Confidence
Confidence is trusting that you can handle things, even when you are not sure how they will turn out.
What confidence means
Confident people still feel nervous sometimes. The difference is that they try anyway, and they don't need to be the best at something to feel they are worth something. Real confidence is quiet. It grows from practice and from being kind to yourself when things go wrong, not from showing off.
How to practise confidence
- Put your hand up once today, even if you are not certain of the answer.
- Before something hard, remember a time you got through something similar.
- Say "I'm still learning this" instead of "I'm bad at this".
- Try something new and count the trying as a win, whatever happens.
