A virtue to practise

Kindness

Kindness is caring about other people and showing it in the things you say and do.

What kindness means

Kindness can be as small as a smile or as big as standing by someone through a hard time. It means thinking about how others feel, and treating them the way you would like to be treated. Kindness reaches animals and the world around you, and it includes being kind to yourself.

How to practise kindness

  1. Say hello to someone who is on their own, and invite them to join in.
  2. Write a short note telling someone why you appreciate them.
  3. Speak up for someone who is being left out or teased.
  4. Talk to yourself as kindly as you would talk to a good friend.
