A virtue to practise

Loving

Being loving means showing warmth and care to the people around you, in your words and in your actions.

What being loving means

Love is more than a feeling. It is something you do: spending time with people, listening to them, looking after them and wanting good things for them. A loving person helps others feel they belong. You can be loving to family and friends, and to people you have only just met.

How to practise being loving

  1. Tell someone in your family that you love them, or show it with a hug.
  2. Give someone your full attention: put the screen away and really listen.
  3. Do something thoughtful for someone without being asked.
  4. Be gentle with people when they are tired, sad or having a hard day.
